This episode features the Folly Beach, South Carolina trio, Dangermuffin visiting Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard. The winery is the closest winery to Washington D.C. and specializes in Bordeaux varieties as well as Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. They have also been able to leverage many years of east coast wine experience, particularly from viticulture consultant Lucie Morton, to maximize results. Along with co-owner Mike McGarry, we tasted their Chardonnay and EVOE! - a blend of Merlot, Malbec, Petite Verdot, and Cabernet Franc - both showcasing the excellent wines being produced at Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard.
We quickly discovered that the members of Dangermuffin (Dan Lotti, Steven Sandifer, and Mike Sivilli) all have an appreciation for healthy lifestyles and the locavore movement -which translates easily into locapour. Particularly when the winery, such as Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, practice environmentally friendly agriculture. And as WineCompass.com repeatedly reminds its readers - there are wineries in every state - probably one within easy driving distance from you. Musically, Dan explained the concept behind the title song of their latest release, Moonscapes, which captures moments living on the beach. The band also discusses their future plans including their summer tour schedule where Wakarusa 2012 is the main event; but also the imminent release of a new CD - perhaps in May. Looking forward to that month.
This was one of the most enjoyable filming events at MyJoogTV. It was a relaxing day touring the vineyard; the fellows in Dangermuffin were friendly and appreciative guests, and the team at Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard were very accommodating hosts. Thank you all. Cheers and as always, the video is available to download for iTunes and Windows Media Player.
